We had a great time at our Fernbank field trip and saw some really neat exhibits. Thanks for all your support in helping us take this fun educational trip. This Friday is Career/Cultural Arts Day. We will be learning about different careers as well as different types of art. We will have the opportunity to meet people in these fields of work. This Monday 3/25 starts our Relay for Life Golden Egg Grab Take a peak at our week:
Reading: How can I find the main topic of a multi-paragraph text as well as the focus of specific paragraphs within the text? How can I compare and contrast the most important points presented by two texts on the same topics? Spelling: How do -y endings change a word? (spelling words-easy, squeaky, needy, gloomy, snoopy, goofy, jerky, thirsty, wormy) Math: How can I recognize and describe different shapes? What are sides, vertices, angles? Writing: What is a narrative? How can I add details to my writing? Social Studies: Who is Jimmy Carter?

Parents this Wednesday report cards go home. You will see this in our red folders with many end of the 9 weeks assessments. Please keep the report card and assessments for your records. Please sign the white envelope and return it to school so I know you received your child's report card.
Thursday is our field trip to Fernbank. Chaperones have received a pink information packet and we look forward to seeing you at Fernbank on Thursday. If you are sending a lunch from home please send in a disposable lunch bag for the field trip. This way items do not get left behind. Take a peek at our week: Reading: What are context clues? Writing: What is peer editing? Social Studies: Who is Jimmy Carter? We are finishing up our third nine weeks this week! You will see report cards go home next Wednesday 3/21. When these are sent home you will also see some assessments on how your child is doing.
This Wednesday 3/14 is Early Release. Students will be released two hours early at 12:30. Please remember this and make plans. Take a Peek at our Week: Reading: What questions do good readers ask? We had a good Read Across America Day! The students received finger flashlights to read with. We had some silent stamina reading time with these as well. We also read to our Kindergarten Book Buddies. It is great to see our students being leaders.
This Friday we have Morning with Mom. Please feel free to come to breakfast with your child. We will have coffee, donuts, muffins, etc. that will be provided for you.
