We are on the last three days of this nine weeks! I can't believe we are half way through second grade. I want to thank everyone for their support. Our holiday party was so fun and the kids loved showing kindness with our stocking stuffers. As we end this nine weeks we will be doing some assessments and review. You will see some assessments coming home this week and also some after our holiday break. Report cards will come home in January. The students have made a lot of growth and it is important that you keep them reading and practicing math facts over the break. They can always get on Raz-Kids as well! We will count our reading checks when we return in January.
Just a reminder we have a full school day Monday 12/18 but on Tuesday 12/19, and Wednesday 12/20 we will have early release at 12:30. Our holiday break starts Thursday 12/21. I hope everyone has a wonderful time with their family and friends. Happy Holidays!!!!

Parents mark your calendars, tomorrow 12/5 we are taking the RI (Scholastic Reading Inventory) this is the test they take on the computer as another measure of their reading level. They take this test independently so please talk with your child about doing their very best and taking their time to show what they know and to show how far they have come in their reading. On Wednesday, December 12 we will take the MI (Math Inventory).
On Friday, December 15th we will have our class holiday party from 12:00-1:00. We will have some fun activities during this time. I will have a sign up Genius coming out to help with supplies for this fun time. Please consider picking up an item or two. This Thursday we will have a preview of our holiday shop. Students will be able to preview what gifts are there and make a list of items and prices for gifts. Their shopping day is next Monday, December 11. Last, as we get ready to end this nine weeks please practice adding and subtracting two-digit numbers with your child. Also skip counting from any given number within 1,000 by 2's, 5's, 10's, and 100's. Math facts within 20 must be mastered by the end of this nine weeks also. Take a peak at our week: Reading: What questions do good readers ask while reading informational text? How can words and phrases supply meaning in a story, poem, or song? What is the author's point? Spelling/Phonics: What are variant vowel /oo/ syllable patterns? Spelling words this week: brew, soup, blue, clue, blew, group, cashew, cartoon, pursue Math: How can I solve word problems?
